13-year-old drowns at Miramar Beach

People need to learn what the Flag System means and adhere to it.

MIRAMAR BEACH —A 13-year-old drowned Thursday evening while swimming in the gulf.

First responders were called around 7 p.m. when three distressed swimmers were spotted, according to a Walton County Shierff's press release.

Deputies Jason Day and Tim Maiden responded to the area, rescuing all three swimmers. The 13-year-old girl was unresponsive and transported to an area hospital in critical condition. She was pronounced dead later that night.
